Why This Reference Exists
Older printed directories can be valuable, but they are only one part of the Mount Morris Township record trail. Parcel evidence begins with the township assessor, recorded land documents are kept by the Genesee County Register of Deeds, and public election evidence is governed by Michigan law. The Genesee District Library, Library of Michigan, and Archives of Michigan hold historical paths that do not appear in a current parcel search. The goal is to identify the right office, access method, and limit before a search begins.
What You Will Find Here
- Pages by question: the address directory, city-directory collections, and a resident lookup route
- Record custodians: assessor, Register of Deeds, township clerk, court clerk, vital-record office, and historical collections
- Research methods: parcel-to-deed trails, historical directory reading, and address-based household research across documented years
- Access limits: Michigan FOIA, voter exemptions, protected addresses, and the request path for records that are not online
